박모(박이소)

Mo Bahc (Yiso Bahc) (1957-2004) was a conceptual artist, also known for his role in introducing postmodern art theory to the Korean art world. In 1985, Bahc founded alternative space Minor Injury in Brooklyn, New York, which he ran until 1989. After returning to Korea in 1994, he served as professor in Concept Drawing at Samsung Art and Design Institute (1995-1999) and taught Kaywon University of Art and Design and Korea National University of Arts. (2000-2003). His many group exhibitions include the Korean Pavilion at Venice Biennale (2003 and 2005), the 1st Yokohama Triennale (2001), and 2nd Gwangju Biennale (1997), and the 5th Havana Biennial (1994). Bahc received the Herm?s Foundation Missulsang (2002) and two fellowship grants in painting from the National Endowment for the Arts (1989 and 1991). For his posthumous retrospective Divine Comedy, curated by Young Chul Lee and held at Rodin Gallery in 2006, he was posthumously awarded the Arts of the Year Award from Arts Council Korea. Bahc translated into Korean, Mary Anne Staniszewski's book Believing Is Seeing and John Storey's Cultural Theory and Popular Culture: An Introduction, both published by Hyunsil munhwa yeongu.
